Get to know Jason

Art is a universal language that transcends human boundaries and differences.  Jason Kandaiah believes this, and it inspired them to be an interdisciplinary dance artist.

Luton would be the place Jason calls home. Despite its many wonders, from its airport to its Vauxhall cars and hats, Jason had very little interaction with art in Luton.  It wasn’t until Sixth Form did they truly explore their artistic skills, studying Art, Graphic Design, Musical Theatre and Dance.

After attending a year of Further Education at the Urdang Academy, Jason returned to Luton. As they worked as an Arts and English Tutor, they continued their artistic journey.

Collaborating with companies such as the Next Generation Youth Theatre, Tangled Feet Theatre Company and Holding Space Collective, Jason worked as a Dancer, Actor, Teacher and Maker. It wasn’t until community-based projects, such as Luton’s Pilot Year of Culture ‘People, Power, Passion,’ that Jason discovered enjoyment for theatre making; working as an assistant set designer and stage-management.

Studying BA hons Dance at the Creative Academy, Jason has followed their continued fascination for movement. Immersing themselves in styles like Contemporary, Jazz, Ballet, Commercial. A love for musical theatre and drama has only persisted to grow within their training.

Fusing dance and art styles, Jason aspires to perform and create.
